2018 Popcorn Program
An incredibly important scout fundraiser has kicked off - POPCORN SALES! Actually, it's our only event. That's why we need you and your scouts to do your fair share (sell $400) to enable the programming our scouts will enjoy all year. Of course, more is encouraged! And, to help motivate the kids, they'll be able to earn some fantastic individual prizes along with a mega group prize of snow tubing at Perfect North with free pizza!

If you attended Field Day on August 19th, you may have picked up materials to start selling. If so, GO AHEAD! If not, don't fret! We'll do a Grand Kick-Off for both parents and scouts at our first Pack meeting on September 18th

Additionally, the scouts will be able to set-up their online sales accounts right away (instructions). First, let's go over a few general administrative things to answer some of your questions.

Benefits to Your Scout and Family:
  • Teaches Scouts the value & process of setting and working toward goals
  • Gives Scouts a strong sense of accomplishment through recognition
  • Enhances communication, leadership skills and confidence in your Scout
  • Scouts can earn valuable rewards including gift cards and prizes
  • Scouts can earn their way to an adventure at a Pack Sleepover

Sales Goals:
Each Scout should strive to sell $400.00

Ways to Sell:

Topic 1: How do I turn-in my orders (i.e. the popcorn your scout sells door-to-door, which are typically recorded on the order form.

- The primary method will be via email. Please send an email to cowden.jason@gmail.com with the item and units ordered.

Topic 2: How do I get the popcorn I sold?

- Sarah Wagner will run a "popcorn warehouse" out of her house. (Thank you Sarah!) We'll set-up an hour on Sunday evenings to pick-up your popcorn. You'll also need to bring your money at that time too.
- The first day/time to pick-up popcorn is Sunday, Sept. 16 from 6-8 pm.
- Location is: 7450 Mar Del

Topic 3: Are we doing Kroger Sales?

- Yes! Katie Baird is spearheading this effort. http://signup.com/go/TfxqyJs
- Currently, we'll be doing Kroger sales in Madeira, Loveland, and Mariemont. Of course, we'd prefer to only be at the Madeira Kroger, but it's a sought after location that we share with the Indian Hills scouts.

Topic 4: Will we do street sign-ups?

The street sign-up is available. We will use signup.com again. You can begin collecting pre-order sales from your neighborhood as soon as you have signed up for a street. If you have any questions, please contact Jason Cowden at cowden.jason@gmail.com

Topic 5: How do I get a solid overview of the prizes?

- There really are A LOT - more than just those called out on the order form. We'll provide a handout at the kick-off to summarize.
- The Scouts will also be eligible for DONATION prizes; they will also be announced at the kick-off.
- There will also be a group grand prize of snow tubing at Perfect North with free pizza!

Topic 6: How do I set-up an online account, so distant relatives or friends can order? They want to help too!

Before we go there, please keep a couple things in mind.
(1) Prizes ordered online will be fulfilled online - However, online sales are added to other sales (IE: Door-to-door and Kroger's sales) for scouts to earn individual prizes. Additionally, online sales >$300 will earn 5% prizes through Amazon gift cards..
(2) The unit makes a higher profit margin via online sales, so this will get us to our overall goal much faster.
(3) Shipping is "extra" unless they order over $90.

Process
- Go to www.trails-end.com and Register
- You'll be asked to register an account as a Parent or Scout. "Parent" probably makes the most sense.
- You'll be asked for your son's email address. You can enter his Madeira email address and turn push notifications off. Their Madeira elementary addresses are: firstname.lastname.student@madeiracityschools.org
- Our council is: Dan Beard
- Our district is: Blue Jacket
- Our unit is: 3020
- Log back in and click "about me" button. Here you can say what your scout likes about Cub Scouts, such as camping, pinewood derby, den meetings, archery, etc. You can also enter pictures.
- Then establish sales goals and email the link.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Jason Cowden (cowden.jason@gmail.com).
